I found this tip years ago and use it every day. It wasn’t until I shared it with a co-worker yesterday that I realized how handy it really is and I wanted to share it. When you are viewing any data in a column; Windows Explorer, Sage 300 CRE, Excel, or any other Windows based application where the data extends past the edge of the column, you can resize the column by moving your mouse to the right edge of the column and when the cursor changes into a double-arrow you can click and drag the column wider.
However, this is not the tip. Instead of clicking and dragging the column when you have a double arrow cursor, try double clicking instead. VOILA! The column will auto size the column width to the longest string of data in the column. This works with row heights as well…
