Sage 300 CRE Tip:

Crystal Reports – Group Using Formulas (not Fields)

If you group your reports using Formulas, not Fields, then you can quickly and easily change your report structure later without having to re-do any formatting.

I name my grouping formulas with a “*G-“ at the beginning to help me keep track.  In the example below, I have an “Invoices by Job” report that is subtotaled by Vendor that I quickly switched to an “Invoices by Vendor” report that is subtotaled by Job by simply editing the *G – 1 and *G – 2 formulas.  This tip was presented at a recent FREE TUG Project Management Webinar. You can register for the PJ Webinars by visiting Community Calendar page.
